Howie
Born: 11/4/1996

Howie came to us as a foster in October 2008 and what a beauty, but more than that, what a sweet boy!  Kissess and kisses and tail wagging, getting along with the other dogs, he made his home immediately.  He dearly loved to strut his stuff on his walks and did the most perfect sit-up we've ever seen.  Soon there was no doubt that our home was Howie's home for the rest of his life.
Howie's "doggie bed" was the king sized bed and he was a great back warmer.  Every morning he insisted on a tussle which consisted of a belly scratching and him growling and bouncing on his back to get a good back scratch at the same time.
Howie had an autoimmune disorder and his little tear ducts were all but gone when he came to rescue and after months of medicines, they improved a bit but his eyesight and hearing soon faded despite all the medications.  Still, he had good walks, sleeps and tussles.
Howie never met a person he didn't want to kiss!  He gave us his goodbye kisses today before going over the Rainbow Bridge where he's no longer in pain, where he can see and hear and run free and have the good times he so deserves.  What a great little feller!
Anybody who doesn't believe that dogs go to heaven hasn't spent time with one of god's creatures who loves unconditionally, never looks back but always lives one day at a time.  They've taught us so much and given more than we could ever give in return.  If dogs don't go to heaven, the rest of us haven't a chance!!
We and so may other love you Howie boy!
